HERITAGE  VOLUNTEERING

One of the most significant and highly valued Heritage Volunteer activities in GDFAS is the preserving of historically priceless books.  Wherever they reside, in a grand country house or castle, these volumes require TLC - tender loving care, to give them a new lease of life and even expose forgotton histories.  Dusting and cleaning is a long but rewarding process.  Perhaps a volume has never been opened since leaving the printer's shop !  Or it may have been annotated by a significant historical figure.  Between the covers may reside information vital to scholars.  From a dusty shelf onto the internet !  Or there may be manuscripts of great value unearthed never seen by human eye since being penned.
